Senior Sourcing Manager

Poseida is seeking an outstanding candidate to join our supply chain, logistics, and materials management team. The Senior Sourcing Manager is responsible for developing and executing direct and indirect category sourcing strategies to support Poseida’s clinical and commercial objectives. This position leads cross-functional teams (product development, manufacturing, quality, IT and finance) to understand their sourcing needs, perform market research, develop sourcing strategies, lead supplier selection process (e.g., competitive bidding, partnership development, consolidation/reducing complexities of the buy, etc.) and work with legal to negotiate contracts/agreements. This position is expected to build and/or sustain relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, which includes suppliers and CMOs and logistics providers. The position may also include supporting order management activities, managing staff, training and development.
These may include but are not limited to: Category Strategy - Lead and implement all aspects of direct & indirect material sourcing strategies. Develop and manage sourcing implementation plans, market & spend analysis, eRFX development & execution, competitive bidding, negotiations, contracts, and implementation Category Risk Management - Proactively assess marketplace, potential supply & business risks, identify secondary suppliers or alternate strategies and develop supply continuity risk mitigation plans Category Maintenance - Contract life-cycle management (e.g., renewing expiring contracts, updating pricing annually, etc.), category databases (e.g., refreshing internal business requirement/impact, supplier capabilities, etc.) Business process development/improvements – Develop or enhance direct/indirect material sourcing process, RFX, SOPs, savings capture procedures, etc. Supplier Qualifications – Coordinate with quality and support efforts to qualify critical suppliers including supplier visits and audits Order Management – Coordinate order management activities related to apheresis and final product shipment by engaging multiple stakeholder (i.e., clinical operations, CMOs, and LSPs) Cross-functional Skills: Collaborate with internal and external partners with regards to all aspects of strategic sourcing activities, i.e., negotiations, contract development, supplier selection and implementation Sourcing deliverables - Ensure sourcing deliverables comply with FDA and local regulations (e.g., GMP products), SOP's and industry best practices Manage executive communications, develop monthly and quarterly status reports Work well in a team environment with shared responsibilities Additional responsibilities and duties as required
Requirements, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Bachelor's degree in science/engineering/life science with six plus years of experience in strategic sourcing and/or procurement in the biotech/pharmaceutical or medical devices industries or strategic sourcing consulting experience (an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered). MBA and/or APICS or similar certification is a plus Strong background in direct and indirect category management Demonstrated understanding of drug development, manufacturing and supply chain of pharmaceutical/biotech or medical device industries. Experience in CAR-T raw material sourcing experience a plus Proven ability in managing costs, supplier performance and delivering year-over-year savings across categories Excellent communication skills, including presentation and the ability to influence different stakeholders across the organization. Experience leading cross-functional teams Must have good MS Project, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and MS Word skills
